It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is now just days away and there are so many fun festivities to come; just don't forget about your perfect holiday look through all of the hustle and bustle! I am here to help with a bit of advice on a great holiday look that is ideal for many different occasions and climates! If you're anything like me you're heading home for the holidays. Now, I am from Minnesota so it will be really cold, but this is a look that can be worn in any winter weather. If you're freezing just throw on a fabulous coat and you're headed to your celebrations in style! I wanted to incorporate one of this season's top trends in this holiday ensemble keeping it fresh and fashion forward. I thought a very fitting trend to focus on was metallic. I found this beautiful bronze pleated skirt that I absolutely love especially because it doesn't really wrinkle making it a dream to pack for your travels! I paired the skirt with a festive, yet not overly festive, lightweight sweater in a gorgeous burgundy color. I added a touch more of metallic by slipping into my favorite Public Desire rose gold pumps. Finally, accessorize with some layered necklaces, grab a cute clutch and don't forget a deep red lip! With this look you're guaranteed to stand out at any of your holiday parties, dinners and festivities! Merry Christmas to all and to all a glamorous night! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Hello there beauties, let’s talk some fashion! So, we are currently in transition from summer to fall, but before I start on the many new trends for fall 2016 I want to talk about something that I feel is very important for everyone to have in their wardrobe, transitional and versatile pieces that can be worn for many different occasions! For this post the piece that I chose is a black jumpsuit. It is cute, comfortable and most importantly extremely versatile. The photos above show you two practical and fashionable ways to wear this piece in everyday life! The first look is a daytime look that is perfect for running around finishing up that to do list on the weekend! I paired the jumpsuit with my super comfy black Nikes, a watch to keep track of time, some stylish sunnies and a great everyday black bag! Now, let’s say your day is crazy hectic and you’ve got plans for dinner or drinks that evening, but not much time to get ready. I’m sure everyone can relate to that ordeal! Well, this jumpsuit is the perfect solution! Just slip into a fun pair of heels, I chose a metallic that is very on trend for fall! Then, throw on a stylish jacket and some jewelry and you’re all set! I hope that these tips and tricks help you out on those busy days that life throws your way! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Follow me on Instagram at @mpj11 and @herlifestyled, also go and give the HerLifeStyled Facebook page a like for more fashion fun! Happy Friday! As the season comes to an end and final summer celebrations commence, it’s time to finish strong and head into fall in style! Whether it be a charity gala, a dinner party or a special event, it’s not always easy to find the perfect fashion forward look for a glamorous night out. But not to worry, I’ve got some tips and tricks up my sleeve! If gowns aren’t really your thing, I would recommend trying a fancy jumpsuit! They look great on many different body types and have a unique flare that is sure to stand out in a sea of evening gowns! I have styled some wonderful looks that are definitely black tie appropriate, but are far from basic! For the first look I chose a beautifully tailored white jumpsuit from Lavish Alice! What I love so much about this particular piece is that is looks incredibly sharp, but still has a touch of femininity! Not only that, but the white ensemble features the noteworthy cape trend in a very sophisticated and formal way. For the second look I decided on a fun embellished ASOS jumpsuit, a sure choice to sparkle and shine at any event! This is a look that is similar to an evening gown, but because it’s a jumpsuit it adds a bit of an avant garde twist! I chose to let each jumpsuit shine on it’s own by wearing minimal accessories and a soft wave in my hair. Last but not least, I chose to finish off the looks with a rose gold pump! Because who can resist a touch of metallic while rocking a straight off the runway trend?!  I love this trend because one thing I’ve learned over a lifetime immersed in fashion is that metallics are neutrals, they go with everything and they mix and match! So instead of your typical neutral nude pump, step out of the box and try a metallic! After a summer filled with fashion fun on HerLifeStyled I hope you have learned, loved and felt like the most stylish chica at every occasion this season! That’s all for my summer style series, but fall is just around the corner and I can wait to dive in head to toe with all of you! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Happy Friday! I hope you are excited, because the fashion fun is back in full swing! We are right in the midst of wedding season and there is love in that summer air! If you are anything like me, when attending an event or wedding you don’t like to blend in and wear that same summer dress that you see everywhere you turn. You would rather make a statement and wear something cool and unexpected! If you aren’t like me in that sense and usually play it safe, take a risk! Step out of your comfort zone! It will boost your confidence and spark up some creativity that you may not have even realized you had in you! Trust me! In my opinion the perfect way to do this is with a nice jumpsuit! It is fashion forward and still appropriate for the occasion of a wedding! For this post I have created 2 fabulous jumpsuit ensembles that are sure to turn heads at any wedding this season! For the first look I chose a nude tunic style jumpsuit from ASOS that is sleek, sophisticated and incredible for summer! To perfectly accessorize the jumpsuit and complete the look I chose a lace choker from Forever 21, black pumps, a simple black clutch and don’t forget the slicked back hair and red lip! For the second look I decided on black and white, you can never go wrong with black and white! This ASOS Red Carpet jumpsuit is beautiful, everything from the materials to the print and silhouette! Not only is it a stunning piece, but it also features the super shiny satin trend that has been all the rage this summer! I chose to let the jumpsuit shine by wearing minimal accessories and a soft wave in my hair. With these looks you are more than ready to celebrate love and possibly even find love this summer! I mean honestly, who could resist a beautiful girl in a gorgeous jumpsuit dancing the night away at a wedding?! I hope this post inspires you to step out of your comfort zone, do something unexpected and walk into a room with confidence and your head held high! What can we do?

http://modernvintagelife.com/2016/07/what-are-we-doing/

http://modernvintagelife.com/2016/07/what-are-we-doing/

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks, and yes I have been busy with work and life, but that isn’t the only reason. I have had moments when I have sat down to write a blog post and I just couldn’t. Then I came across this post on Instagram and it really struck a cord with me because it is exactly how I have been feeling for the past couple of months, and those feelings have really started to affect me over the past few weeks. This photo is an excerpt from a blog post on modernvintagelife.com. It is very touching and really got me thinking. I recommend you all go and read it. This post really helped me get my thoughts together, something that has taken me a while. I thought that it was time to share how I have been feeling and explain why I have not been posting, as hard as that is to do. With all the tragedy that I have been seeing around the world I started feeling hopeless, questioning what I am doing with my life, if there is something bigger, something more that I could do. I have been upset, found myself in tears more often than usual. I have felt uninspired, I couldn’t write about what I love and I couldn’t find the words to explain why. I have tried so hard to think about what I can do to make this world a better place and I found myself feeling overwhelmed, trying to think of solutions that are much bigger than me and out of my control. And the fact is this tragedy that has been happening in our world is ultimately out of my control. So I took a step back and started to realize that I don’t have to put the world on my shoulders, but I CAN help make the world a better place by doing small things everyday. Because when it comes down to it, the small things can be the big things to someone. And if I can help one person that is helping our world, is it not? So what CAN we do? We CAN live our lives to the fullest in honor of those who have lost their own lives. We CAN do what we love and share that love with the world. We CAN help inspire others; just like the Modern Vintage Life post did for me. We CAN pray, as she talked about in that post. We CAN be kind to others. We CAN put positivity and love out into the world. We CAN help change the world. In the midst of all of this tragedy the reality is that our lives still have to go on. We are blessed with the gift of life so we need to appreciate that gift, do what we love, help who we can and live our lives to the fullest and to the best of our ability. I truly love what I do, so I am going to continue doing what I love, be positive and try my best to help others and make the world a better place along the way! I hope that this post has helped inspire you all, because I know how hard it can be to feel optimistic right now. Please continue to live, love and be positive! With all of that said, I will be posting another HerLifeStyled summer style post in the very near future! Stay tuned!

Much Love,

Thank God it’s Friday, and another long holiday weekend! Hallelujah! The 4th of July is definitely one of my favorite times of the year! There is just an energy buzzing in the air everywhere you go, that celebratory summer feeling! The celebrations are always such an incredible time, sunshine, grillin and chillin, and of course fireworks! As we celebrate our great nation why not celebrate summer style at the same time?! I have created a cute and casual look that is perfect for this year's 4th of July festivities! I started out with an adorable pair of cropped jeans with a bit of a flare and an unfinished hem! These are an ideal pair of jeans for summertime because they won’t get too hot! I decided to pair them with a white off the shoulder crop top! I mentioned the off the shoulder trend in a previous post and I think that the 4th of July is an amazing time to rock this trend! This style from H&M is lightweight, versatile and is the perfect white piece for your patriotic ensemble! Next I accessorized these simple pieces in order to create something special! First is a navy and white printed little neck scarf that I picked up at Forever 21 for about $7.00! This is another super chic trend that we are seeing on celebs everyday! It’s crazy how the smallest details can make the biggest impact. In my opinion, this scarf really completes this outfit and gives it a fun, stylish flare. To add some sparkle and shine to the look, I got inspiration from fireworks and slipped into the gold, sparkly espadrille sandals! Before you head out make sure to fill a cute tote with all of you summer party essentials and definitely don’t forget a classic pair of sunnies! Finally add a pop of red with a bright a bold lipstick, and if you can get your hands on a red pickup truck you will be riding in classic American style!  Have fun and be safe this weekend! Party-goers and fun seekers, I hope you are ready for some fashion fun!  Welcome back to HerLifeStyled! Summer is officially here and you know what that means, party invitations are being sent out left and right! Whether it is a birthday, a special event or just a fun night out with friends, the perfect outfit is a must! I mean think of all of the people you will be meeting and photos you will be taking! This dress from Forever 21 is my idea of an ideal summer party dress, and bonus points, it didn’t break the bank even though it looks like it did! Not only is this wrap style dress very on trend this season, but also it is very flattering on many different body types! The menswear inspired style is extremely fashion forward, and a style that I am personally a major fan of! Not to mention, the classic black and white goes perfectly with a bold red lip, which is super sexy and sure to attract attention at any party! To add some femininity to the menswear inspired look I added a sultry lace up pump. As I noted in my last post, lace up shoes are also a big trend for summer! Finally, I added some fun accessories to elevate the ensemble and make it even more party worthy! The envelope style clutch is very classic and goes incredibly well with the style of the dress, plus the black and white stripe lining adds something special to the outfit. It’s all in the details! The silver choker that I chose is super edgy, trendy and a major statement piece. I only added a simple ring and small stud earrings to let the necklace take the spotlight! I hope that my party look puts you in a party mode! Get ready for the weekend and all of the fun memories you are going to make all summer long! Hello and welcome back to HerLifeStyled! I hope that you have been enjoying my posts about all things summer style and are finding inspiration in my looks, tips and tricks! Well, if you are then don’t worry because the fashion fun isn’t over yet! As another weekend approaches we have another fun topic to chat about! Last week we talked about the daytime events of the summer, but this week the topic of conversation is date nights! Whenever we have a date one of our first thoughts is, what am I going to wear? At least one of mine is! Whether we are going on a first date, out with the boyfriend or even husband, we always strive to dress to impress! No worries because I am here to help with that difficult decision. In my opinion this is the perfect ensemble for a date night this summer, it is sexy yet chic and incorporates some trends of the season! I chose a Millie Mackintosh maxi dress because it is easy and effortless, but this one is dressy enough that it is appropriate for a nice dinner date! I love how feminine this look is, but not girly, just the right mix of skin and sophistication to stun your date. This date night outfit is another great example of combining multiple trends without being too trendy, just fashion forward. The first trend here is one that was seen on runways all over the world this season, the super shine satin trend! This trend is incredibly glamorous and something that celebrities are rocking left and right. Not only is the fabric of this dress on trend, but so is the style. The wrap dress will always be a classic, something that Diane Von Furstenberg has taught us all too well, but this kimono style wrap dress is really making waves this season. What a fun twist on a classic silhouette! Finally, we spice things up with accessories! The lace up shoe is also a major trend this summer, whether it be a flat, a sandal or a heel. For date night of course I chose the heel version! Then I added a bit of edge with the cool studded clutch and gold handchain that really elevated this look. I hope that I was able to help with one of the most difficult decisions a girl has to make about date night other than who she’s going on the date with! If you use some of these ideas while getting ready you’re sure to not only catch your dates’ attention, but you will be turning heads of the entire restaurant! Summer is finally here, and it’s almost the weekend! I know I’m excited, and I hope you are too! The weekend always has so much to offer, but today’s post is dedicated to the daytime events of the summer. This look in particular is inspired by one of the most luxurious and classy annual events of the summer that actually takes place this Saturday, the Vueve Clicquot Polo Classic. Now I know not all of us have a hot ticket to that event, I definitely don’t, but there are so many incredible events all summer long! So why not dress as if every event is the hottest event of the season?! In my opinion an all white look is the way to go to do just that! All white is glamorous, classy and looks expensive, but hint hint, it doesn’t actually have to be expensive to look it! For my cool girl take on an all white ensemble I found this amazing white jumpsuit from Forever 21! See, that’s not so bad on the wallet! Rather than wearing it on it’s own I decided to cover up a bit, keepin it classy, and wear this adorable collared shirt by The Fifth underneath. The Fifth is an awesome Australian brand that you should all definitely check out! I love this shirt in particular for this look because it’s not solid white. It is all white but there is a checkered pattern that features a bit of sheerness adding some visual interest and depth to the outfit. That’s one major tip I have for dressing in a monochrome look, try to break it up a bit by mixing fabrics, adding texture or even a subtle print. By doing this it will add a little something special that will take your outfit to the next level. Here I incorporated this season’s trends but slipping on a mule with a heel and carrying a little white bag with all of my summer event essentials! Hopefully the sun will be shining all summer long, so don’t forget a pair of super cute sunnies! A few simple accessories and you will be the most fashionable girl at all of this summer’s events! I really encourage you all to look into the local events going on around you this season; they are great places to meet new people, try new things and have a ton of fun! Let’s start this summer off right! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner and I am sure you are already making incredible plans for some fun in the sun! Whether it’s the beach, a backyard BBQ, an outdoor flea market, road trip or a pool party you’ve got to have the perfect outfit! Well you’re in luck because I have created an ideal look for any and all of your Memorial Day activities. This jumpsuit from Topshop is simple, chic and comfortable all in one! You can throw it over top of your favorite swimsuit for a pool or beach day. Otherwise, if you’ve got a bit of a drive to head to a family gathering you will be insanely comfortable, plus it looks adorable with a cardigan or jacket if you get chilly in the car or your BBQ goes late and the temperature drops as the sun goes down. Another thing I love about this jumpsuit is that it’s capri length, which is perfect for this time of year, it’s not too short and you won’t get too hot! Throw on your favorite sandals and you have a super cool, simple summer look. I chose this gladiator style from Forever 21, they are very on trend and I just love the silver circular hardware! The best part, they didn’t break the bank! Throw all of your summer essentials in your trusty backpack, then slip on some stylish sunnies and you are ready for whatever the long weekend throws your way! I hope my look helps inspire a picture-perfect ensemble for this coming weekend’s endeavors! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Congratulations, you have almost made it through another workweek! Just one more day to go and you’re free for weekend festivities! It seems like there is always so much to get done this time of year between work, spring cleaning, preparing for summer, all of the family get-togethers and events, life can get pretty hectic. But I believe in you! You can do it, and do it in style! One thing that always gets me feeling a bit overwhelmed this time of year is all of the errands that pile up, and sometimes you feel like just throwing on some old sweat shorts and a big t-shirt to run around town. Although, over the years I have started to realize that putting a little extra effort into how you look and what you’re wearing makes you feel a lot better about yourself, giving you more energy and making for a much more productive day. So this blog post is dedicated to giving you an idea of how you can easily go that one extra step so that you’re feeling great even on the busiest and most tedious days. Here we have something I know well as a Minnesotan, the Canadian Tuxedo. But this is the cool version proving that you can wear denim on denim while still looking fashion forward. Denim is all around perfect for summer and this year it’s been seen all over the runways making it a major trend. I absolutely love this two piece denim set from Topshop because not only is it super comfortable and cool, but it has a white pinstripe giving it a little more personality than your typical pair of jeans. The jeans are also cropped making them look great with your go to pair of sandals. I chose these black platform sandals from Forever 21 because I could literally run around in them all day long without a blister in sight. Plus, the platform sandal trend is all the rage this season. Underneath my cool kid Canadian tuxedo I am wearing an old Abercrombie & Fitch tank that I cut into a crop top. I think the unfinished touch makes it look like you’re not trying too hard, because let’s be honest who wants to run around all day in some stuffy uncomfortable outfit?! Finally add some final touches with your favorite accessories. Obviously a choker is my favorite piece of jewelry at the moment, then a ring or two and some sunnies are always easy additions. Last but not least, my favorite part, the backpack! I highly recommend getting a fashionable backpack. I wear mine all the time and it was only about 30 bucks at Forever 21. It makes my life so much easier on a busy day, it’s hands free and you don’t have to worry about a purse swinging around everywhere getting in the way. I hope that this look gives you some inspiration to get up and get it done in style! Comment below with all of your thoughts, questions or post requests! Good evening friends and congratulations, you successfully made it through another Monday! Today on the blog we are continuing our conversation about summer style and how to create a cool and fresh wardrobe for every occasion. Last week’s look was focused on an ensemble for work, but this week we are talking about something a bit more fun, a get together with the girls! We all love a good chit chat with our girlfriends over a delicious lunch or shopping for a cute new outfit, and of course we want to look insanely stylish at the same time! I mean, selfies for social media, am I right?! Well, here is some inspiration for your perfect girls day attire! I have incorporated multiple spring/summer 2016 trends right here in one look. First let’s begin with this incredible denim dress by Boohoo from Asos, a staple for your summer wardrobe. Not only is frayed denim super in this year, but it also features a cold shoulder, which was seen all over the runways this season. And pockets! The dress has POCKETS! This blazer from Asos proves that you can still be pretty in pink without being overly girly. I think that a menswear inspired blazer in a feminine color is a great piece to have so you can throw it over a dress or t-shirt for a chilly night or when you’re indoors and that air conditioning is cranked just a bit too high. Next we move on to one of my favorite topics, shoes. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a massive shoe addiction, from sneakers to pumps and everything in between. For this specific occasion I chose a fun sneaker, because let’s be honest if we are going to shop til we drop we can’t have sore feet! Plus, sneakers are very on trend right now! Last but not least, don’t forget to accessorize! Find a staple bag, like this one from Forever 21, that is big enough to carry all of your summer essentials and will go with everything. To top it all off, throw on a pretty choker necklace and a couple of simple rings. I hope this post inspires you and makes you want to call up the girls to plan a fun day date! May is here which means summer is right around the corner! Summer is such a fun time of year with a wide variety of things going on, so it’s time to prepare our closets for everything this summer throws our way! Let’s face it, an easy summer go to is a floral sundress, but let’s take it up a notch and create a more sophisticated, cool girl wardrobe that incorporates this year’s summer trends. While you may want to think about all of the fun parties and events this summer is going to offer, let’s start with the basics. After all, we all still have work to get done, but lets spice it up a bit with some fun fashion. This is a look I put together with a business casual meeting in mind. It is an ideal ensemble for a coffee shop meet up to discuss a new project or even at the office, just pull the sleeves up onto your shoulders or throw on a lightweight jacket! I love these pieces because not only are they flattering for many different body types (uhemmm vertical stripes make you look TALLL) but they are also very on trend for 2016 without being too trendy. One of my favorite trends for summer is stripes. I love this trend because it’s great way to add print to your wardrobe without being your typical summer floral. You can do so much with stripes because it is a pretty neutral print; add color, mix with other stripes or even different prints. For this meeting look I went with a classic black and white vertical stripe, but if you have questions or want to see another post on additional ways to wear stripes, comment away! Another great summer trend is the off the shoulder, or cold shoulder, trend. I think this is a great way to show skin without showing too much skin. I feel that it adds a touch of feminism to the look that really takes it to the next level. For daytime a metallic flat is great. Contrary to popular belief, metallics are neutrals, so they go with everything. Even with other metallics! Last but not least, one of my favorite things about this outfit is that it’s the perfect example of a look that transitions from day to night. Just throw on a pair of pumps and you’re ready for happy hour! Follow me on Instagram at @mpj11 and @herlifestyled, also go and give the HerLifeStyled Facebook page a like for more fashion fun! Before I begin sharing my tips and tricks, while helping you all create your ideal wardrobe, I want you to get to know a little bit more about me and what lead me to creating HerLifeStyled. Ever since I can remember I have been interested fashion, as a young girl I was constantly reading fashion magazines and watching fashion related TV shows. I grew up in Minnesota, definitely a much smaller fashion industry than in my current city of Los Angeles, but I was always surrounding myself with fashion as much as I possibly could. My first real taste of the fashion industry began when I took up modeling around the age of 13. I took classes and did a few jobs here and there in Minnesota, which I really enjoyed, but when I was able to travel to Los Angeles for a modeling competition was when I truly knew that I wanted to be involved in the fashion industry for the rest of my life. I had fallen in love with fashion. From there I began working in retail, and finally after high school went on to study Fashion Retail and Management at the Art Institutes International Minnesota. I studied there for about a year when I realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. It was after I made the decision to leave the program that I really began to research programs at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. After visiting the school and feeling as if I had found my place, I made the big move out to California. I had the most amazing experience at FIDM. My hands on classes and my internship in wholesale fashion truly prepared me for the wild world of fashion in LA. Since graduating FIDM with a degree in Visual Communications, I have had the opportunity to work in retail management, wholesale fashion, marketing and branding, event production and my true passion, wardrobe styling. I have had incredible experiences within the styling world working under Daniel Musto, Ade Samuel, Chelsea Von Mach, Rachel Zoe Studio and more. I love this industry so much that I felt it was time to spread my wings and begin my own journey making a name for myself. This strong urge to be my own boss has lead me to work on starting my own business as a personal shopper and stylist and here, to HerLifeStyled. This blog has been a dream of mine for a long time and I am so excited that it’s finally becoming a reality. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me, but now I want to get to know you! Please comment below with any questions and fun facts about yourself! Let’s also connect on social media!
