May is here which means summer is right around the corner! Summer is such a fun time of year with a wide variety of things going on, so it’s time to prepare our closets for everything this summer throws our way! Let’s face it, an easy summer go to is a floral sundress, but let’s take it up a notch and create a more sophisticated, cool girl wardrobe that incorporates this year’s summer trends. While you may want to think about all of the fun parties and events this summer is going to offer, let’s start with the basics. After all, we all still have work to get done, but lets spice it up a bit with some fun fashion. This is a look I put together with a business casual meeting in mind. It is an ideal ensemble for a coffee shop meet up to discuss a new project or even at the office, just pull the sleeves up onto your shoulders or throw on a lightweight jacket! I love these pieces because not only are they flattering for many different body types (uhemmm vertical stripes make you look TALLL) but they are also very on trend for 2016 without being too trendy. One of my favorite trends for summer is stripes. I love this trend because it’s great way to add print to your wardrobe without being your typical summer floral. You can do so much with stripes because it is a pretty neutral print; add color, mix with other stripes or even different prints. For this meeting look I went with a classic black and white vertical stripe, but if you have questions or want to see another post on additional ways to wear stripes, comment away! Another great summer trend is the off the shoulder, or cold shoulder, trend. I think this is a great way to show skin without showing too much skin. I feel that it adds a touch of feminism to the look that really takes it to the next level. For daytime a metallic flat is great. Contrary to popular belief, metallics are neutrals, so they go with everything. Even with other metallics! Last but not least, one of my favorite things about this outfit is that it’s the perfect example of a look that transitions from day to night. Just throw on a pair of pumps and you’re ready for happy hour! Follow me on Instagram at @mpj11 and @herlifestyled, also go and give the HerLifeStyled Facebook page a like for more fashion fun! Lots of love!
